Last month, Marvel Snap (Free) held its very first āimbalance" event in honor of Valentineās Day. For a limited time, certain well-known couples were given special boosts when conditions were right. It must have gone over well, because weāve got a second āimbalance" event on our hands. This time it ties directly into the season theme, forcing you to choose who you want to support: the Avengers or the X-Men. Yes, youāll actually get a benefit from supporting one side or the other, so itās time to decide which bunch of heroes are your real favorites. Letās look over the details. One thing Iāve always liked about Marvel Snap is how well the developers tie in the mechanics of the game with the actual characters, stories, and themes from the Marvel Universe. That continues with this Avengers vs. X-Men imbalance event. Avengers are known for assembling, right? Well, if you play three or more Avengers at a location during this event, the location will get +3 Power. Not bad!
Qualifying Avengers cards include (deep breath): Ant-Man, Black Panther, Black Widow, Bucky and Winter Soldier, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Echo, Falcon, Hawkeye, Hercules, Hulk, Iron Fist, Iron Lad, Iron Man, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Mockingbird, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Nova, Quake, Quicksilver, Rescue, Scarlet Witch, Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Stature, Thor, Vision, Wasp, and Wong. If you disagree with any of those being Avengers, take it up with Second Dinner.
As for the X-Men, everyone knows that the more of the Merry Mutants you have on your hands, the bigger your troubles get. As soon as you play any four X-Men, theyāll all have +1 Power each. In theory, this could add up to more Power than the Avengers buffs, but hey ā itās called an āimbalance" event for a reason. To me, my X-Men! Thatās the thing Professor X says. I donāt want X-Men to come to me, literally. I donāt have enough rooms for them all.
Qualifying X-Men Cards include (another deep breath): Angel, Armor, Beast, Bishop, Cable, Cannonball, Colossus, Cyclops, Dazzler, Forge, Gambit, Havok, Hope Summers, Iceman, Jean Grey, Jubilee, Kitty Pryde, Magik, Mirage, Multiple Man, Namor, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Nightcrawler, Pixie, Polaris, Professor X, Psylocke, Rogue, Storm, Strong Guy, Sunspot, White Queen, Wolfsbane, Wolverine, and X-23. No Deadpool. The X-Men have no patience for that weirdo.
Thatās about it for this one. Seems like a fun way to spice up the proceedings for the rest of the season, at least. I like these events because it adds a new spin to deck builds, pushing players into trying new combinations or cards they might not have before. What do you think of these imbalance events? Are you having fun? And most importantly, which side will you choose?
